Dr. Stefan Schmidt joined Howmet Wheels Systems (Alcoa Wheels) in Sept. 2022 as Technical Manager Truck & Bus OEMs for Europe. In this position he works as the interface between the European OEMs, the legislative general conditions in Europe and the development team in the USA.
After completing his doctorate in the field of solid state ionics in 2001, his professional path led him into the automotive industry, where he worked for various companies in the field of exhaust gas aftertreatment technology. Initially, he took care for individual components (e.g.: NOx- and temperature sensors) until he later assumed responsibility for complete exhaust systems as a program manager. The spectrum of applications ranged from passenger cars and commercial vehicles to off-road applications.
