Andreas Schumann is Chairman of the German Federal Association of Courier, Express, and Postal Services (BdKEP). Since 1990, the association has represented the economic and regulatory interests of small and medium-sized entrepreneurs and enterprises in the courier, express, parcel, and postal sector. With more than 500,000 employees, the industry generates annual revenues of over EUR 27 billion. BdKEP serves as a key point of contact for political decision-makers, ministries, authorities, the media, and the interested public.
After studying animal production at the University of Leipzig and earning a degree in business administration from GHS Essen (Diplom-Kaufmann), Andreas Schumann founded one of Germany’s first private urban postal services in 1998, following the liberalization of the postal market. After the company was acquired by Fiege Logistik AG, he helped build the letter mail division of Postmodern, the mail service of the Sächsische Zeitung, which continues to operate successfully today.
In 2001, he joined EP Europost (now TNT Post GmbH & Co. KG) in Hanover, where he held several management positions. He played a key role in shaping the company’s product and process landscape and ultimately served as Director of Quality. In 2010, he founded internetPost AG, where he served as Chairman of the Board until 2018.
In addition to his entrepreneurial work, Andreas Schumann has long been actively involved in logistics standardization and innovation. Since 2014, he has chaired the BdKEP, advocating for fair competition, digital transformation, and the strengthening of medium-sized enterprises. He has served as a delegate and convenor in the European standardization body CEN TC 331 “Postal Services” since 2017 and has chaired the DIN Coordination Office for Logistics since 2018. Since 2020, he has led the DIN Committee for Postal Services, and since 2024, he has headed the German delegation to ISO TC 344 “Innovative Logistics” and chaired the related DIN logistics committee.
His work combines extensive practical experience with strategic association leadership, a strong commitment to innovation, and a clear focus on securing the future of small and medium-sized logistics companies in Germany and across Europe.
